Weddings at Cathedral 101 are conducted in English, with Portuguese elements available on request. The church seats 80 guests. The aisle is approximately twelve metres. These are the facts. What follows is a more complete account of what the process looks like, from the first email to the day itself.

How far in advance to contact us

We ask for at least six weeks' notice, though most couples contact us three to six months before their intended date. Summer Saturdays in particular fill quickly, as the Cascais area draws a significant number of destination weddings between May and September. If you have a specific date in mind, email hello@cathedral101.com as early as possible to check availability.

The preparation meetings

Before the ceremony, Reverend Thomas Alcott with with the couple on two occasions. The first meeting is a general conversation about the service, the readings, and any particular wishes. The second is a more detailed run-through of the order of service. These meetings can take place at the church or, for couples based outside Portugal, by video call.

The ceremony itself

The service follows an Anglican structure but can be adapted within reason. Couples choose their own readings, and there is space for personal vows alongside the traditional form. Music is arranged separately. We have worked with a classical guitarist based in Estoril and a small choir that rehearses in Cascais on Wednesday evenings. Both are available on request.

Practical details

The church is on Rua da Misericordia 101 in Cascais. There is a public car park on Rua Visconde da Luz, four minutes on foot. The building has no air conditioning, which is worth noting for summer weddings. The thick limestone walls keep the interior cooler than the street, but by midday in July it is warm. Most summer ceremonies begin at 11:00 or earlier.

Cost

The fee for a wedding ceremony at Cathedral 101 starts at 350 EUR. This covers the ceremony itself and the two preparation meetings. It does not include music, flowers, or any external suppliers. We are happy to provide recommendations for local musicians and florists who have worked in the building before.

To begin the conversation, email hello@cathedral101.com with your intended date and a brief note about what you are looking for. Reverend Thomas Alcott will reply within two working days.
